About

I’m not a guru.
I’m the bloke who got back up.

Life coach, husband, father, business owner, ultra cyclist — and, like you, someone who’s spent years figuring out the difference between a good life and a loud one.

Meet Stuart

Why I coach.

I started Phoenix Mentor because I spent far too many years of my own life quietly repeating the same chapter, convinced the problem was the plot and not the author.

I’ve built and run businesses. I’ve raised a family. I’ve ridden ultra-distance on a bike, where you learn very fast that the voice telling you to stop is not the voice you should listen to. And I’ve done the work — the unglamorous, awkward, uncomfortable work — of actually sitting down with myself and asking: what do I keep doing, and why?

Phoenix Mentor is everything I learned on the way. It’s the conversation I wish I’d had ten years earlier.

How I Work

Warm, honest, collaborative — never a lecture.

I don’t turn up with a clipboard and a checklist. I approach every session from curiosity, because my job isn’t to tell you what your life should look like — it’s to help you see what it actually is, and what you actually want it to be.

I’ll share my own stories freely — the good, the embarrassing, the expensive — because I’ve found clients don’t need perfection in a coach, they need someone who’s willing to be honest first.

I work in three-month minimum blocks. Not because it’s more profitable, but because genuine change rarely fits into a fortnight.

A Few Things About Me

The non-bio bio.

→

Ultra cyclist

Long days in the saddle taught me more about mindset than any book ever did. “You always have another 20%” is observational, not motivational.

→

Business owner

I’ve run real businesses with real payroll, real mistakes and real lessons. I coach from the chair, not the lectern.

→

Hypnotherapy-trained

One-year course in hypnotherapy. Not my main tool, but a useful lens for understanding how we talk to ourselves.

→

Avid reader

Peterson, Huberman, Clear, Dweck, Frankl. My clients get the curated list, not the full library.

→

Husband & father

Whatever I teach has to survive a normal family life. If it doesn’t work on a Tuesday, it doesn’t work.

→

Police-checked

I work with teenagers and young adults, so I hold a current police check. You can ask to see it any time.

Who I Work Best With

Is Phoenix Mentor right for you?

I tend to do my best work with:

  • →Teens and 20-somethings who feel flat, foggy, or behind
  • →Career pivoters — people standing at the edge of a big change
  • →NHS staff, public-sector professionals and anyone working toward a promotion
  • →High-performing people whose inner critic is louder than their wins
  • →Cyclists, runners and endurance athletes
  • →People alongside therapy who need a practical coaching layer

If you saw yourself in that list, the free 15-minute taster is the easiest place to start.

Let’s have a 15-minute conversation.
