Break the pattern.
Rebuild the mindset.
I’m Stuart — life coach and founder of Phoenix Mentor. I help people in the UK silence the inner critic, build habits that actually stick, and stop repeating the same chapter of their lives.
About Stuart
I’m not a guru. I’m the bloke who got back up.
I’ve built businesses, raised a family, ridden ultra-distance on a bike and spent years working out why I kept ending up in the same emotional cul-de-sac. Phoenix Mentor is everything I learned on the way — distilled into a practical, warm, no-nonsense coaching approach.
- →Life audits that actually change something
- →A 6-stage framework for breaking repeating patterns
- →Conversational, collaborative — never a lecture
- →Built for real people, not self-help influencers

The Life Audit
The 6-stage process I use with every 1-to-1 client — adapted for you to run on your own life, at your own pace.
Silence the Inner Critic
Why that voice in your head isn’t telling you the truth — and the practical tools to turn the volume down for good.
Break the Pattern
Stop repeating the same relationships, jobs and self-sabotage loops. Spot the pattern, name it, rewire it.
Habits That Stick
A realistic framework for building daily habits that survive a bad week, a holiday or a genuinely awful Monday.
Goal Architecture
From vague dream to delivered outcome — how to design goals you’ll actually hit, without burning yourself out.
The Covid Generation Reset
Built specifically for teens and 20-somethings who lost years to lockdown and are struggling to find momentum.
A 6-stage process that actually goes somewhere.
Audit
We map the territory — what’s working, what’s stuck, and where you’re leaking energy.
Name It
We identify the pattern you’re stuck in. Naming it is half the work.
Rewire
We build new thinking, new habits and a quieter inner critic.
Architect
We design the goals, the routines and the support structures you need.
Deliver
We turn the plan into weekly action, with accountability and honest check-ins.
Embed
We lock in the change so it survives your next bad week.
“ Stuart doesn’t lecture you. He asks the one question you’ve been dodging for a decade — and then he sits with you while you answer it. “

Honest writing from the saddle and the sofa.
Everything here is written from my own life — what worked, what didn’t, and what I’d tell a client today.
The Weeble Principle: why falling down isn’t failing
On resilience, wobbling, and the fact that “not fallen over yet” is a perfectly decent win.
You always have another 20% — lessons from the saddle
What ultra-distance cycling taught me about the lie we tell ourselves when we want to quit.
Your inner critic is lying — here’s how to prove it
A practical three-step exercise to turn the volume down on the voice that isn’t on your side.
Questions people ask before booking.
What’s the difference between a life coach and a mentor?
A coach asks better questions. A mentor shares what they’ve lived through. I do both — because in my experience, you need both.
Do you work online, or do I need to travel?
I run everything over Microsoft Teams, so we can work together wherever you are in the UK (or overseas — I see overseas clients one full day a month).
Is this therapy?
No. If you’re in mental health crisis, you need a clinician. I work brilliantly alongside therapists and GPs.
How long does it take to see change?
Most clients feel the shift within three weeks. I work in three-month minimum blocks because meaningful change rarely happens in a fortnight.
Am I too old / too young / too far gone?
No. I’ve coached people from 17 to 67. If you’re ready to look honestly at what’s in the way, we can work together.
Ready to stop repeating the same chapter?
Book a free 15-minute taster. No pitch, no pressure — just one honest conversation about where you’re stuck.
